Initial findings from the pilot evaluation

Following the successful completion of the Go4SET pilots the programme is being fully evaluated.

All participants were asked to complete detailed questionnaires about all aspects of the scheme content, structure, impact and delivery.

Mentors and teachers were given questionnaires at the Celebration and Assessment Days (CADs) and the pupils at the launch and CADs. The feedback analysed so far reveals valuable information about pupil attitudes to SET pre and post Go4SET participation

  • 100% of students in the survey indicated that they used and will continue to use economics essay writing service
  • 75% of pupils said they were more likely to pursue SET courses through option choice because of their project experiences, 24% remained the same
  • 96% of pupils said they would recommend Go4SET to other pupils thinking of taking part next year

An added benefit of the scheme has been the positive impact on the pupilsÂ’ perception of engineers and careers in engineering. Incorrect perceptions of engineers in the workplace e.g. always wears overalls, only repairs cars, has dirty hands dropped by over a third and positive perceptions rose by over a third.

Go4SET is also analysing the impact on pupil personal development by examining self assessment by each pupil in a number of different life skills areas eg ability to work in a team or independently, communication, self esteem and confidence, research and problem solving. A full analysis of Go4SET will be available in the near future.

Go4SET would like to thank all the pupils, mentors, teachers and assessors for this invaluable feedback.  This information will directly influence all future developments of the programme.

We are particularly grateful to the pupils, teachers of the Technology Department and Headteacher of Fortismere School in Muswell Hill, North London for their assistance with Go4SET initial conception, development and production of promotional materials.
